He-Shi is leading professional tanning brand of Irish origin.

The brand's founder, Hilary McMurray, launched He-Shi in 2004. Word quickly spread and the He-Shi success story quickly unfolded. Today He-Shi is a leading professional tanning brand and is available in beauty salons and day spas all over the UK & Ireland.

The He-Shi brand name is undoubtedly intriguing – journalists have guessed its origins to be anything from an exotic phrase in Thai to the name of hero in Gaelic legend! Hilary explains the simple truth: “It’s a simple, memorable name that suggests that our products are great for both women and men but also comes from my name and my daughter’s name – the H from Hilary and the Sh from Shelley, and swapping the ‘e’ and the ‘i’ around to form He-Shi. We simply liked the catchiness of the sound and decided that, if we liked it, then so might others people too and, so far, that certainly looks to be true!”

The commercial success of He-Shi was brought about by that partnership of founder Hilary & her daughter Shelley. Since graduating from university Shelley has worked alongside Hilary all areas of the business. The pair are now a focussed on the development of the brand internationally.
